We often mistake Praise and Worship as being one and the same, but there is a difference. Praise- expresses warm approval or admiration where-as worship is the feeling of expression of reverence in adoration. Worship- is giving Thanks and reverencing God for the things that we are not worthy of. Worship, is more intimate and personal, requires us to worship God in Spirit & in Truth, blocking out the cares of the world and presenting our bodies as a “Living Sacrifice”. When we truly worship, we give God glory and honor for the things He has done and for the things He is going to do. We exalt Him for His mighty acts and for protecting us from seen and unseen dangers. We honor the Lord our God for breathing life into us and endowing us with purpose. Worship is a personal love letter, written from you to God, which illustrates your gratitude in such a way that no one can duplicate your expression. In today’s devotion, we are instructed to Truly Worship the Lord our God for all that He has done for you personally. To fully understand that God loves it when His children present Him with True Worship.

Scripture:

Psalm 95:6-7

“Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God, and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care. Today, if only you would hear His voice,” (NIV).

Observations:

·         David a man who did many things that were not pleasing to God, still was given favor. David was a man out of God’s own heart whom He loved dearly, and as a result of God’s love towards him, David illustrated what True Worship really is.

·         Knowing, his faults and human error, David showed humility by bowing down at the feet of God, forgetting his crown and his position, and giving God True Worship. David knew that he was unworthy, yet God continued to bless and show favor towards him.

·         God favored David because He chose David even when he sinned over and over and over again. Yet, when it came down to David worshipping the Lord, he did it diligently. David knew that God could have ended his very existence for the sins that he committed, but God saw fit to let him live, and for that reason and that reason alone David honored God by giving him True Worship.

A call to Worship

·         God urges us to give Him thanks no matter what life may throw you. Whether those times be difficult, bearable, or times of joy & happiness we should honor God and give Him True Worship. Isaiah 25:1 reminds us to, “exalt the Lord God for all the things that He has done, seeing and unknowing. Worthy is our God, because He has done wonderful things, things that were planned so long ago.” Isn’t that awesome? Our Savior had us in mind even before we entered into the world. He knew our plans (Jeremiah 29:11), He knew when we would fall and how we would get back up. He knew the trials we would face and the struggles that we would encounter in our lives. The happy moments that we would experience and the love that we would share with others. Through it all we are called to submit our very lives to the will of God and worship Him, because He is worthy of our worship.

·         We are called to worship the Lord in adoration, because He hears the prayers of His children (Jeremiah 29:12). To get ourselves in a humble position, which shows our gratitude towards God. Romans 14:11 says, “It is written: ‘As surely as I live,’ says the Lord, ‘every knee will bow before me; every tongue will acknowledge God.’” What an advantage we have, the very thing that God is requiring everyone to do in this present day, all will bow before The Heavenly Father.

·         It all belongs to God, the glory, the honor, the praise, the worship; it all belongs to Him for He is the King of Glory. I like how Psalm 24:7-10 puts it, “Lift up your heads, you gates; be lifted up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory shall come in. Who is this King of glory? The Lord strong and mighty, the Lord mighty in battle. Lift up your heads, you gates; lift them up, you ancient doors, that the King of glory may come in. Who is He, this King of glory? The Lord Almighty- He is King of glory.” Strong and Mighty, the Lord Mighty in battle is worthy of True worship, He is deserving of it all.

Prayer

Oh, gracious Father, I worship you in spirit and in truth for you are worthy of it all. I honor you for there is none like you. I thank you for the things that you have done for me even though I am not deserving of my blessings. I lift my hands and surrender my life to you, and I give you the worship that is due to your name. I love you, Oh God, my life is in your hands, and I worship at your feet for I recognize that you will protect me through all storms and treacherous rain and when the flood tries to overtake me you will stand as a strong tower and keep all manner of evil from me. I will dwell with you forever Oh God, for you have found favor with me knowing that I am unworthy of any of it. All of the blessings bestowed upon me, you still see fit to show love back to me despite the mistakes, the sins, and the times that I have turned my back on you. I thank you for showing me unfailing love and for that Lord God I bow down before you like your beloved son David and worship you. I worship you, Father. Please accept my worship and may it bring honor to your name. I realize that no one can stand against you and that all of the Victory belongs to you. Father God I am yours in the Mighty name of Jesus, and I seek to give you True Worship to you and you only. I thank you, I thank you, I thank you. I worship you, I worship you, I worship you. I do this in your darling sons’ name.

Amen.
